hadros Recruitment is working closely with a new state-of-the-art waste plastic-to-oil pyrolysis facility that is being developed, featuring a fully integrated process chain. 

Our client is seeking a Chief Technical Officer to lead and drive the plant’s chemical and quality performance. This pivotal role will oversee all aspects of process chemistry, including optimizing reactor conditions, managing catalyst usage, leading post-treatment, de-contamination, and product quality control.

The Chief Technical Officer will oversee the delivery of consistent, high-specification output while maintaining high standards in HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment), operational reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Additionally, the Chief Technical Officer will oversee the development of future Pyrolysis projects across Asia.

This role is based in Singapore but will involve 50% travels.

Role Summary
  • Ensure the conversion of mixed plastic feedstock into on-spec pyrolysis oil that meets strict customer quality and quantity targets.
  • Collaborate with the pre-treatment team for feedstock selection and optimization.
  • Optimize reactor operation and guide catalyst programs.
  • Manage the de-contamination and post-treatment processes to remove key impurities prior to shipment.
  • Work closely with Operations, QA/QC, and EPCC partners from pilot testing through to steady-state production.
Key Duties and Responsibilitie

  • Analyze incoming plastic streams and set operating parameters to maximize liquid yield and consistency.
  • Select, monitor, and replace catalysts and adsorbents to enhance cracking performance and support oil de-contamination.
  • Lead post-treatment activities, including impurity removal and polishing, to achieve target limits for sulphur, chlorine, metals, acidity, and viscosity.
  • Establish laboratory protocols, interpret analytical results (such as density, viscosity, TAN, sulphur, metals), and adjust processes in real time to maintain batch specifications.
  • Investigate off-spec products or equipment issues, implement corrective actions, and capture lessons learned for ongoing optimization.
  • Ensure all chemical handling, emissions, and waste streams comply with local regulations and facility HSSE standards.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and mentor local operators and junior engineers on safe, efficient processing and de-contamination practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a refinery, petrochemical, pyrolysis, or other catalytic conversion environment.
  • Proven expertise in catalyst selection, process optimization, product quality control, impurity removal, and upgrading processes.
