hadros Recruitment is working with a rapidly growing high purity chemicals business in Indonesia that owns and operates a portfolio of chemical refineries across the country, and they are currently looking for an R&D Director to join their business, leading the Research & Development activities for its Group.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in high purity chemicals and their applications in advanced industries such as semiconductors, electronics, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals.

This role will be pivotal in steering innovation, developing new chemical formulations and processes, and ensuring that our product portfolio meets the stringent quality and performance standards required by global clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and implement the Group’s R&D roadmap in alignment with business strategy, with a strong focus on high purity chemicals.
    • Lead and mentor research teams, fostering a culture of innovation, safety, and technical excellence.
    • Collaborate closely with global stakeholders to ensure R&D objectives support long-term growth and sustainability.
  • Innovation & Product Development
    • Drive the development of new products across categories including high purity acids, bases, solvents, salts, gases, metals, and specialty organic compounds.
    • Oversee applied research in advanced coatings, photoresists, and specialized monomers for high-end semiconductor and electronic applications.
    • Ensure all R&D activities meet the rigorous standards of purity, consistency, and performance demanded by clients in advanced industries.
  • Process & Technology Development
    • Direct technology programs for scaling production of high purity chemicals, improving yields, and ensuring compliance with environmental and quality standards.
    • Partner with engineering and operations teams to transition lab-scale developments into commercial production.
    • Introduce and adopt leading-edge analytical and purification techniques.
  • External Collaboration & Market Insight
    • Build strategic partnerships with universities, research institutions, and technology providers in Indonesia and globally.
    • Stay abreast of market and technological trends (e.g., EUV lithography, new bio-based monomers, advanced thin-film deposition techniques) to anticipate client needs.
  • Regulatory & Compliance
    • Ensure that all R&D projects comply with Indonesian and international regulatory standards for chemical manufacturing, including environmental, safety, and sustainability requirements.
    • Maintain strong intellectual property management and contribute to patent filings.
Qualifications & Experience
  • PhD or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
  • At least 12–15 years of experience in chemical R&D, with a demonstrated track record of innovation in high purity chemicals, semiconductor chemicals, or specialty polymers.
  • Strong understanding of chemical synthesis, purification methods, and analytical techniques relevant to achieving ultra-high purity grades.
  • Proven leadership in building and managing high-performing technical teams.
  • Direct experience working with or supplying to semiconductor, electronics, or advanced materials industries preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and environmental best practices in Indonesia and internationally.
